Meet Anna Rexach of Ash Hole Cigar Club Virgin Islands: 13 Years of Cigars and Giving Back
Culture, service, and smoke: how a childhood scent of cachimbo became a life of leadership in the Virgin Islands.
“My name is Anna Rexach, and I’ve proudly served as President of the Ash Hole Cigar Club — Virgin Islands Chapter — for about three years. Growing up, I’d visit my uncles in Puerto Rico, and the room would fill with the warm scent of cachimbo. That aroma of tobacco stayed with me.”
For the last 13 years, cigars have been part of my rhythm — not just a smoke, but a ritual that connects family, island culture, and community.
Leadership for Anna is quiet strength. Most of what she does for her neighbors is intentionally anonymous. The rest she shares so others can find a way to help too. After school, she offers tutorials for kids who need a boost. During the week, she teaches adults and children to read and write in English. When elders need a ride to or from a doctor’s appointment, she’s there. On weekends, she hosts a cookout at the lounge and makes sure the homeless are fed.
That is the spirit of Ash Hole — a global family built on trust, culture, and action. From the Virgin Islands to chapters around the world, members like Anna remind us that cigars aren’t just a pastime; they’re a bridge.
Why it matters: When chapter leaders give back, the entire ecosystem gets stronger. New smokers learn etiquette and history. Veterans of the craft mentor the next generation. And the community beyond the lounge feels seen.
